Accessibility
What we aim for, what this site does to get there, where it falls short, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
The short version.
- We aim for WCAG 2.2 at Level AA.
- No one outside the firm has audited the site, so we do not claim that it conforms.
- If something stops you, email support@pontelon.com and we will get you the information another way.
The standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is a target, not a result. Nobody outside the firm has tested this site against it, and until someone has, we will not say the site conforms.
What the site does
- A "Skip to content" link is the first thing on every page.
- Everything you can reach with a keyboard shows a visible focus outline.
- Pages are marked up with landmarks, and the main navigation tells screen readers which page you are on.
- On small screens, the menu button reports whether the menu is open, Escape closes it, and focus returns to the button.
- The assistant opens from a labelled button, closes with Escape, returns focus to that button, and announces each new reply to screen readers.
- Animation stops when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Light and dark themes follow your system setting, and a toggle overrides it.
- Text is sized in relative units, so it scales with your browser's text size and zoom.
- Colours are chosen for at least the 4.5:1 contrast ratio WCAG sets for body text.
- The system diagram on the home page carries a text description for screen readers.
- Every contact form field has a label, and a rejected submission names the fields to fix.
- There are no time limits, no autoplaying media and no CAPTCHA.
Where it falls short
- No independent audit. Everything above is how the site is built, not how an outside tester found it.
- The contact form needs JavaScript to confirm. Without it, your message is still sent, but the page does not show that it arrived.
Tell us
Email support@pontelon.com with "Accessibility" in the subject. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and, if you are willing, the browser and any assistive technology you use.
We usually reply within two business days. If a page does not work for you, we will send you what is on it in a form that does.
